When it comes to email analysis, data and email statistics reign as king. Knowing what you and your competitors are tracking can help set your strategy for future success. To give better insight as to what is being analyzed, the research firm MarketingSherpa published their findings on what organizations are tracking in the analysis of their email metrics.

According to the results of their survey, clickthrough rate is still the most common email statistic tracked by marketers with 92 percent of all respondents claiming to actively track this. Other metrics were:

  • Open rate – 90 percent
  • Delivery rate – 81 percent
  • Clicks per link in email – 51 percent
  • Clicks per email – 51 percent
  • Post click conversion rate – 44 percent
  • Response by list segment – 36 percent
  • Revenue per email – 33 percent
  • Social sharing rate – 18 percent

As organizations set their goals for the upcoming year, it will be interesting to see what they do with their email analysis and how these numbers may change throughout the year. As social marketing continues to grow, one would expect that social sharing rate tracking may increase in the new year, but first marketers have to understand how to track it and how to leverage it.
