What Spam Email Statistics Reveal

Spam email statistics give us some disheartening figures. Of about 30 billion emails sent every day to computers throughout the world, 12 billion of those are bona fide spam. What this translates to for email recipients is an awful lot of time sifting past spam in their inboxes in an effort to get to legitimate messages sent by friends and trusted sources.

For this reason, an awful lot of email users are turning to spam filter software in an effort to rid themselves of unwanted marketing messages trying to sell them on the latest and greatest Viagra-like medications – or, as is often the case with spoof emails, trying to liberate them of their bank account funds. So what does all of this mean for you, the average, honest-to-goodness email marketer?

For one, it means that the simple act of sending an e-newsletter that your recipients have opted in for can sometimes test the patience of your customers. The last thing you want is for someone to get fed up with your marketing messages and unsubscribe. Or, worse yet, mistakenly report you as a spammer. To cut back on the chances of this happening, always do the following:

• Send marketing messages and e-newsletters on a regular schedule so that your readers will know when to expect them.
• Don’t fill up your recipients' inboxes by sending emails too frequently.
• Never send from many different email addresses.
• Take pains to clearly identify yourself in the subject header of all messages.

Pay attention to spam email statistics, as they serve as a good reminder of how important it is for you to go to any length necessary to ensure your marketing messages don’t end up being blocked by spam filter software.
